Supernatural Does Meta → The 15th episode of season 6 takes it’s name from the movie Blazing Saddles. The title of the episode, The French Mistake, derives it’s name from a scene in Blazing Saddles, during which the characters from the movie (set in the Old West) crash through the wall onto a Warner Brothers movie set. The song being performed in the musical scene of Blazing Saddles is named The French Mistake.

Not only does Supernatural reference the movie in it’s episode title, but both the episode and the movie are known by their respective fans for (among many things) breaking the fourth wall (an old T.V. trope in which the lines between reality and fiction are blurred and crossed). However, unlike many movies and shows that break the fourth wall, Supernatural and Blazing Saddles take it to another extreme, both literally breaking through the physical fourth wall at some point during their respective scenes.
